The replacement element with thermostat arrived on schedule and in good condition. The included directions were simple and clear. Actual replacement was a snap and the smoker works better than before. It seems to get hotter and hold the temperature better.

I ordered the replacement heating element because the original element that came with the Meco smoker lasted just three months. The replacement element lasted three months as well. I bought a new smoker (Brinkman) for 1/3 of the price of the stainless steel Meco smoker. Both times the element failed in the same place- where the rheostat fits on the heating element prongs.

We got our electric Meco meat smoker ages ago (10-15 years) and finally the plug in fitting rusted out. It was nice to find this part and replace the whole element. We are happily back to smoking our turkeys and hams!
